A steel structure is only as good as the design behind it. Our structural steel design service takes your building from an idea or an architect's layout to a fully engineered, detailed frame, ready to fabricate and erect.
What we design
- Portal-frame warehouses, factories and workshops
- Commercial and multi-storey steel frames
- Mezzanine floors, platforms and access structures
- Canopies, roof structures and trusses
- Steel additions to existing buildings
What you receive
- Structural analysis for the loads your building will carry, including dead, imposed and wind loads
- Member sizing for rafters, columns, purlins, bracing and secondary steel
- Connection design and detailing
- General arrangement drawings and fabrication (shop) drawings
- Material schedules that feed directly into fabrication and pricing
- Design calculations for submission to the approving authorities
How we deliver it
We start with how the building will be used: clear spans, eaves height, crane or mezzanine loads, and future extensions. From there we develop a structural scheme and refine it with you and your architect.
Because our designers work alongside our fabrication workshop and site crews, we detail for how the steel will actually be made, transported and lifted into place. That means practical connection details, sensible member lengths and fewer surprises on site.
Good design also controls cost. An efficient frame uses less steel for the same performance, and steel weight is the biggest single driver of a structure's price.
