The brief

The client needed an industrial warehouse in Nairobi with a large, column-free floor for storage and operations.

The client wanted a single contractor to take responsibility for the structure from design through to erection.

What we did

We delivered three stages under one team:

  • Structural design: we analysed the loads, sized the portal frames, purlins and bracing, and produced general arrangement and fabrication drawings.
  • Fabrication: our workshop fabricated the columns, rafters and secondary steel to the approved drawings. Each piece was marked and sequenced for erection.
  • Installation: our crew erected, aligned and bolted up the frame on site, sequenced against the project programme.

Because the designers, fabricators and erectors were one team, questions raised in the workshop or on site were resolved directly, without waiting on a third party.

The outcome

The client received a completed steel structure delivered by one accountable team.
